YOU ALL HAVE HOMEWORK: COMPLETE THE SHIFTING WORKSHEET (DUE TUESDAY)
Tuesday: A major scale using the 16th note rhythms, Open String Warmup (shifting) and purple book (pg. 18). 4th period: We will continue working on Dance Scenario and add Mouse March from 21 to the end. You need to be practicing Dance Scenario daily to make sure your fingers remember everything that we are reviewing in class. Cellos will be working on End Pin Rag with MC to learn the new notes and rhythm (you will have a test on Friday so make sure you practice). 5th period: We will continue working on Dragon Dances with a special emphasis on creating different timbres (color/ mood) between the sections. We will also work on increasing the speed of the fiddle pieces and playing through them without stopping.
Wednesday: A major scale, Open String warmup (shifting), and purple book (pg. 18). 4th period: We will record Dance Scenario for a grade and discuss our progress and needed improvements on Thursday. End pin rag with the cello section from the beginning to m. 22---we will all learn this part! Run through of Zydeco and Mouse March. 5th period: Irish Suite--how to count in 6/8 and play in the Irish style. Dragon Dances and Hot Potato motif practice---everyone will play the same thing at the same time and match styles so that the motif stays consistent as it is passed throughout the sections. We will record your fiddle pieces and discuss our progress and needed improvements on Thursday.
Thursday: A major Scale, shifting written quiz, and purple book test on pg. 18. 4th period: Discuss Dance Scenario recording and create goals for next week. Record Zydeco for a grade and discuss our progress and needed improvements on Friday. End Pin Rag excerpts and Mouse March from 21 to the end. 5th period: Continue Irish Suite and Dragon Dances (you will have a test tomorrow).
Friday: Test on End Pin Rag excerpts (cello) and Mouse March (all others).
Test on Dragon Dances motif and Hot Potato melody.
