Make sure you are practicing all of your pieces at home for accurate intonation, rhythm, and primarily dynamics. Dynamic contrast is what makes music interesting and keeps the audience engaged. Just like you don't want to hear someone telling you the same stuff over and over and over.....well your parents don't want to hear just loud playing (it gets boring)!
I am so proud of the work that you have done so far---this concert is going to be amazing because you have truly shown a high level of musicianship and professionalism. You have learned your parts, gone the extra mile in rehearsal, and most importantly learned how to communicate a message to the audience.
Monday: read through House and Mouse March--learn how to accompany a movie with and without narration.
Tuesday: rehearse Mouse March w/ video and Zydeco the specials---focus on balance, dynamics, and style. How do you focus on your music while other entertaining "specials" are going on around you? Also run through Wood for clarity of the melody in each section.
Run El Toro and Fiddle pieces along with Hot Potato warm-up. Focus on transitions between sections and ensemble---are we together, who is this most important?
Wednesday: record all pieces---where are we and where do we want to go?
Thursday: run through of all pieces--fix any issues
Friday: compare and contrast your concert with your recording from wednesday
Learning Goal:
Perform a successful concert and be able to articulate the concepts learned from each piece.
