Tuesday (2nd hour): Bow Grip Exercise #1, Open String Warm-up, C scale with arpeggios--focus on pay attention to the finger patterns because they are the difference between good intonation and bad intonation. Purple Book--Chester for a grade. Fiddle Piece---using the three fiddle pieces that we currently have, how do you speed up music or how do you make your fingers go faster? El Toro--beginning through 30....bowings and using the correct style--short quarter notes and remember to pop off the string on the double down bows.
Wednesday: NO ORCHESTRA
Thursday (1st hour): G scale using staccato quarter notes from Zydeco Two Step, Purple Book---begin working on Jesse James within your sections. Zydeco Two-Step--sight read and identify melody vs. harmony....everyone has the melody in this piece so we learn it at the same time. Test this week on Dance Scenario 1st violins m. 73-86, 2nd violins and violas m. 63-73 and cellos and basses do not have a test this week!!!!!
Friday (2nd hour): C scale with arpeggios, Fiddle Piece--Oats, Sourwood, and Arkansas FASTER!! Play these without stopping at quarter note=100 and every week we will get faster until we reach our target goal which will be set by you guys :) Begin learning the rhythm for Bio Rhythms. NO TEST THIS WEEK!!! TURN IN YOUR WARM-UP!!!
Learning Goals for 4th period:
1. G scale with arpeggios with correct intonation and finger patterns
2. Count eighth notes on and off the piece
3. Dance Scenario from beginning to end---everyone should be able to play all of the notes
4. Recognizing the melody in Zydeco Two Step
Learning Goals for 5th period:
1. C scale with arpeggios with correct intonation and finger patterns
2. Play Chester (G major) with correct intonation, rhythm, tone, and posture
3. Play the three fiddle pieces at quarter note=100
4. Play El Toro using the correct style from the beginning to measure 30.
5. Understand how your rhythm helps to create Bio Rhythms
