EQ: How do you apply the fundamentals of music when learning new repertoire?

Monday:  Daily Warm-up (5-10), continue dynamic contrast with A minor scale using rhythmic patterns from Midnight Tango.  We will begin working on measures 16 to the end this week with special emphasis on intonation.


Tuesday:  Daily Warm-up (5-10), continue dynamic contrast with E minor scale using rhythmic patterns from Queen of Sheba.  We will continue working on the opening 32 measures especially with articulation and balance.

Wednesday:  Daily Warm-up, Rhythmic Dictation, Shifting exercises, and continue working on Midnight Tango with special focus on Violins- measures 16 through the end:  articulations (accents) and intonation (low 2 on D, A, and E).....Viola/ Cello- measure 16 through the end:  articulations (accents), intonation, and fluid bow movements.


Thursday:  Daily Warm-up, Rhythmic Dictation, Shifting exercises, and continue working on Queen of Sheba.  How have we improved from last weeks recording?


Friday:  Test on Midnight Tango and Queen of Sheba.  Practice sight-reading techniques after the test if there is time.

3.  Students will learn proper shifting techniques
4.  Students will apply knowledge from scale creation and articulations to their music
5.  Students will apply techniques from warm-ups to their music
